In this renovation by Harrison Design, the architects retained the best of the Spanish Colonial Revival home’s character, while opening and brightening spaces and creating a highly functional, modern home. To maximize spectacular views, several additions were designed to blend with the existing architecture. In several instances, central rooms were expanded by combining adjacent spaces. Dark-stained floors act as a unifying element and the traditional white stucco walls were hand plastered to exhibit subtle mottling, raising the quality of the interior finish. Details like window mullions and wrought-iron balconies were thoughtfully executed to preserve the integrity of the original 1940s design.
