On April 25, Principal Architect Bulent Baydar and Senior Project Manager Lindsay Weiss accepted an Addison Mizner Award on behalf of Harrison Design from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) Florida Chapter. The award, presented during a dinner celebration at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, recognizes excellence in classical and traditional architecture throughout the region.

Harrison Design was honored in the Folly category for Coastal Hideaway, a three-story bungalow designed as a private retreat within a coastal estate. The ICAA’s Folly category celebrates architectural or landscape elements that while nonessential to function, bring exceptional beauty, charm, and character to a site.

Coastal Hideaway anchors the estate’s pool terrace and allée of palms withing impinging on the main residence’s ocean views. Inspired by Anglo-Caribbean architecture, the structure was thoughtfully designed to be both elegant and resilient—like the residence, it endures the rigors of a coastal climate while enhancing the overall experience of the property.

This project displays over a decade of dedication and collaboration. From the initial concept to the final detailing, Coastal Hideaway evolved through a sustained partnership between the design team and client.
