With 16,000 entries from around the world, the bi-annual Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove Kitchen Design Contest is one of the interior design industry’s most competitive award programs, as the jury narrows the thousands of entries to 44 finalists who vie for only 12 professional prizes. At an awards event at the Breakers Palm Beach on Monday, October 14, it was announced Karen Ferguson was awarded 2nd Place Winner in the Traditional Design category! Karen, the principal of Interiors who is based in Atlanta, is the only winner from the southeast region. Harrison Design’s Bulent Baydar was architect of the award-winning home.

The kitchen cabinets were crafted by Kingdom Woodworks and the lantern lamp is from Circa. The kitchen design is part of an English Manor-style residence in Atlanta. While traditional on the exterior, the interior features spacious rooms filled with natural light. A salon opens to the kitchen, which was designed to be comfortable for entertaining and gatherings. Light dances off the island’s white quartzite countertop and is absorbed by the sophisticated, inky blue cabinetry that conceals the refrigerator, warming drawers and wine tower.
