For this residence, Harrison Design updated one of the most cherished styles of American architecture. Clad in fieldstone, slate and wood, the exterior is classically proportioned with the portico featuring Doric pilasters and leaded glass windows around the door. In the interior, 10- and 11-foot ceilings, a flowing floorplan and lots of windows divert from the usual New England colonial style. Architectural details such as wainscoting, inlays, paneling and mouldings bring a refined elegance. The mirrored arched doors in the dining room lead to a closet and butler’s pantry. French doors open to a terrace, bringing natural light into the kitchen.
