This 54th-floor, penthouse terrace in downtown Brooklyn offers extraordinary views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, lower Manhattan, Queens, Long Island City and beyond. Due to exposed westerly and northern winds, planters and plants were deliberately kept low, with Green Mountain boxwood, soft-touch holly, and a band of rosemary for added fragrance. The Hick’s yew hedge softens the wall behind the main lounge area and Hakonechloa macra and purple salvia add punches of color. Furnishings on the 600-square-foot terrace are tightly tailored with rectilinear shapes in a palette of dark and light gray. A barbecue and refrigerator allow for effortless entertaining.
