A small Catholic parish in southern California wanted to construct something proportionate to their size, but reflective of their strong faith. Harrison Design was able to draw on the elegant power of Spanish Colonial churches, with graceful limestone details framing white stucco, to design something beautiful, simple, and harmonious with its surroundings. In the nave, open timber trusses recall the historic churches of the region. Outside, the bell tower functions both as a spatial anchor on the street corner, and as a stairwell to reach the choir loft. A serene garden creates a tranquil space between the church and the street.
